MICHAEL H. YEN, M.D.MICHAEL H. YEN, M.D. F.A.C.C.

Each of our doctors contributes a wealth of knowledge in special areas relating to the heart. But special skills alone are only part of what we look for at the Heart Center. We attribute our success not only to our ability to attract doctors with highly specialized skills, but also the ability to work well with others for the benefit of our patients.

Dr. Yen brought specialized training in peripheral vascular interventions to The Heart Center that he gained from the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Along with Dr. Gorwara and associates at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, he is presently creating one of the few minimally invasive treatment programs in the United States for carotid artery disease. We are proud to be able to offer this program to our patients here in the Hudson Valley.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Yen completed a degree in Biology from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, cum laude. He subsequently attended Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC and completed his residency at the Washington University School of Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He then completed his fellowship work in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

During his academic career, Dr. Yen received a Harvard College Scholarship for Academic Achievement of High Distinction. He contributed a number of book chapters in well respected medical textbooks and has been prolific with published research studies. A major contributor to stroke prevention, Dr. Yen directs the only non-surgical cardiology based program in Dutchess County for treatment of carotid artery disease.
