SANKAR N. VARANASI, M.D. F.A.C.C.
We believe the rich and diverse texture of our staff adds strength and dimension to our program. Dr. Varanasi was a National Merit Scholar for school years that spanned two continents and brought him notice at some of the most highly regarded academic institutions on both.
As an undergraduate at New Science College, India, he graduated with honors in biology, biochemistry and biostatistics. Dr. Varanasi obtained his M.B.B.S. (equivalent to an M.D. degree) at Osmania Medical College, in India. He came to the US and completed his internship at The Mount Vernon Hospital in New York and a residency in internal medicine at Yale University's Norwalk Hospital. His clinical and research fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac medicine came from General Hospital Center at Passaic, NJ. Dr. Varanasi followed these studies with a fellowship in adult cardiovascular medicine at Yale University/Norwalk Hospital and another fellowship, this time in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology, from the University of Wisconsin.
He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. In addition, Dr. Varanasi is a Fellow with the American College of Cardiology and a member of the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology.
