LAWRENCE S. SCHEK, M.D., F.A.C.C.

As one of the founding partners, Dr. Schek has sculpted The Heart Center into a world-class regional referral center for cardiovascular disease. He has been at the helm of a number of local medical facilities, serving as President of the Medical Staff, Acting Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chairman of Cardiology at Vassar Brothers Medical Center as well as Chair of Cardiology and Chair of the Joint Practice Commission at St. Francis Hospital.

His undergraduate education began with a B.S. from Union College in Schenectady, where he was an Eliphalet Nott Scholar. He was a magnum cum laude graduate of the Free University of Brussells before entering medical school at the New York Medical College and distinguishing his studies with a Mosby Scholarship Book Award and honors in obstetrics, internal medicine, and pediatrics. He completed post graduate studies at Metropolitan Hospital Center followed by a fellowship in Cardiovascular disease at the New York Medical College.

He's certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a subspecialty in cardiovascular disease. He has also achieved board certification in nuclear cardiology and is a Certified Physician Executive.

Dr. Schek has contributed to numerous publications and supports a host of professional organizations including the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, American Medical Association, New York Medical Society, North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE), the American Heart Association, the American College of Physician Executives, and more. He has lectured and consulted nationally regarding the growth and development of cardiovascular organizations.
