JOHN PORTELLI III, M.D., F.A.C.C.Dr. Portelli joined The Heart Center in 1996, and proceeded to spearhead the development of our very busy practice in New Windsor. He also helped construct our strong alliance to St. Luke's/Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, helping them open their first cardiac catheterization laboratory in 2005.
It’s hardly any wonder that building strong bonds is Dr. Portelli′s forte. His background in engineering serves him well. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honor Society, and earned a Fezandie Award for highest academic standing in Mechanical Engineering.
After deciding that his career would be medicine, he went to the New Jersey Medical School for his M.D. He finished his internship and residency at the University of Maryland where he also became a Fellow in Cardiovascular Research, and subsequently in Clinical Cardiology.
