Computed Tomography (CT) is a highly diagnostic imaging tool due to its ability to detect minute differences in tissue as well as its multiplanar reformatted imaging capabilities.  An estimated 62 million CT scans are performed in the United States each year to diagnose conditions of the neck, chest abdomen, pelvis, extremities, cardiac system, and sinus and temporal bones.  CT is a complex imaging technique that relies on the experience and training of both the physician and the technologist.  Their interpretive and technical abilities determine the diagnostic accuracy of a CT examination.  The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed Tomography Laboratories (ICACTL) offers an accreditation program which evaluate the quality of these and other critical elements of a CT laboratory.

Hudson Valley Cardiovascular Associates, P.C. CT Angiography Suite in Poughkeepsie, NY has been granted accreditation in the areas of Coronary Calcium Scoring, Cardiovascular CTA and other CTA by the ICACTL.  The laboratory is one of the first 500 CT laboratories in United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to be so recognized for its commitment to high quality patient care and its provision of quality diagnostic testing.  The Center is the third facility to achieve CT accreditation in New York State.
